LA CROSSE, Wisconsin — A man is dead after a house fire in La Crosse.

Fire Division Chief Craig Snyder says crews were called about 2 p.m. Monday to the house on the far south side of La Crosse. When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke and intense heat in the kitchen and living room.

Snyder tells the La Crosse Tribune (http://bit.ly/1Nwm2iN ) the man's body was found in the kitchen.

Authorities presume the fire started in the kitchen, but the cause is under investigation. The name of the victim won't be released until relatives are notified.
