WEST MEMPHIS, Arkansas — One lane of Interstate 55 northbound at West Memphis will be closed to allow for inspection of the I-55 bridge over the Mississippi River.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department says northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane with the closing of the outside lane from Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day, weather permitting.

Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.

The inspection is called routine for the 5,222 foot long bridge that was built in 1949.
