BISMARCK, North Dakota — Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem has ordered a Florida-based company and its operators to stop doing business in North Dakota.

Stenehjem issued the cease-and-desist order against Annual Business Services LLC.

Stenehjem says the company passed itself off as a North Dakota company and sent letters to North Dakota companies implying that those companies were required by law to complete and file certain business forms each year.

Stenehjem says the letters also quoted prices for services and used a format similar to official government forms. Stenehjem says several local businesses contacted his office to report the deceptive solicitation letters.

A telephone listing for the Florida company could not be found.
