PAOK to play in Champions League qualifying round next season after winning Greek playoffs

ATHENS, Greece — PAOK will play in Champions League qualifying next season after winning 2-1 at Giannena from Gordon Schildenfeld's second-half winning goal on Sunday.

Schildenfeld scored in the 74th minute from long range. It was the Croat defender's first goal for the club since his mid-season loan move from Dynamo Moscow.

The win took PAOK past Atromitos to win the playoffs to finish second in the Greek league and reach the third qualifying round for Europe's top club competition. Olympiakos won the league title.

Tomas de Vincenti put Giannena ahead in the 31st, but Costas Katsouranis equalized in the 70th.

Atromitos missed several chances in a 0-0 home draw with Asteras, including Stefano Napoleoni's injury-time shot that was saved on the line.

Atromitos, Asteras and Giannena will play in the Europa League.
