FAIRFIELD, Connecticut — Tyler Nelson scored a career-high 26 points Saturday, including four 3-pointers, to propel Fairfield to a 57-43 win over St. Peter's that snapped a 10-game skid.

Mike Kirkland Jr. contributed 15 points and Marcus Gilbert added 11 to go with seven rebounds for Fairfield (7-21, 5-13 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Both teams shot comparably from the field but Fairfield clinched the game at the free-throw line, hitting 18 of 22 compared to just 4 of 7 for St. Peter's.

Trailing by four late in the first half, Fairfield took the lead for good during an 11-0 run capped with back-to-back buckets from Kirkland to make it 31-26 with 17:15 to play. A free throw from Malcolm Gilbert and a 3 from Nelson late in the half ignited another 11-0 run to clinch it.

Desi Washington led St. Peter's (13-16, 7-11) with 10 points, including two 3-pointers.
