GRAND FORKS, North Dakota — The trophy that will go to the regular season champion of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference is going on display in Grand Forks.
The Julie and Spencer Penrose Memorial Cup is on a tour of the eight schools in the new NCAA Division I hockey conference, including the University of North Dakota. The 3-foot-tall trophy was being put on display Friday and Saturday nights at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
UND is hosting Miami University both nights.
The Penrose Cup is named for a business couple considered the backbone of hockey in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in the early 1900s.
