BOSTON — Registration for the 2016 Boston Marathon will open Sept. 14 and use the same process as in recent years to allow the fastest qualifiers in their gender and age group to register first.
The Boston Athletic Association said Wednesday registration will be on its website http://www.baa.org, where qualifying times also are listed. Times are the same as in recent years. This year's qualifying window began Sept. 13, 2014.
Eligible runners who have met the qualifying standard for their group by 20 minutes or more may begin registering at 10 a.m. Sept. 14. If space remains, the next fastest qualifying groups may register Sept. 16 and Sept. 18. Registration will close by 10 p.m. EDT on Sept. 19.
The size of the field will announced later this summer. The 2015 marathon had 30,000 official entrants.
