Iowa firefighters extinguish flames at Washington County hog confinement facility

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Iowa — Firefighters in Washington County have extinguished a blaze at a hog confinement facility after battling it for about four hours.

A county spokeswoman says crews from eight departments responded to the fire in Crawfordsville on Thursday. She says the fire started at a facility owned by JDL Farms.

Firefighters worked the site from about 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It's unclear what started the fire.

No human injuries were reported. It's unclear if any animals were harmed.
