GRETNA, Louisiana — Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend and accidentally shooting his grandmother.

Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, says Jarius Cole was booked with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder in the Tuesday night double shooting that took place on his grandmother's front porch near Westwego.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1GXYdzZ ) Cole and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Andrea Grant, of Violet, were sitting on the porch of 65-year-old Percy Cole's home when gunfire rang out. In addition to hitting Grant, bullets wounded Percy Cole in the chest. She's in stable condition.

Fortunato says Cole told investigators he shot Grant over "domestic issues" and then disposed of the weapon. Police have not yet recovered the gun.
