Villopoto wins at Las Vegas, caps Supercross title-winning season with 10th victory

LAS VEGAS — Ryan Villopoto capped of his latest Supercross title winning season by earning his 10th victory of the year on Saturday night.

Starting in the middle of the pack, Villopoto passed Kawasaki teammate Jake Weimer at the end of the first lap to take the lead and went on to the victory.

"This is a great way to cap the season off," said Villopoto. "We rebounded this year from a bad start at the season opener and won the title. There is no better way to end a season than like this."

Ryan Dungey finished second in the race and third in the season standings behind Davi Millsaps, who was third in the race.

Wil Hahn earned his first 250SX Eastern Regional championship with a third-place finish in the 250SX Class Main Event. Three-time Arenacross champion Tyler Bowers won the race for his first 250SX victory. Marvin Musquin, who began the day five points behind Hahn in the championship standings, finished second — just inches behind Bowers.

"Right now, I do not know what to say," Hahn said. "Marvin has been making a string comeback on me, and coming into this race, I may not have been in the most ideal situation, but I am glad I pulled it off."

Ken Roczen clinched his first 250SX Western Regional championship finishing second in the Class race as Eli Tomac got his fifth victory of the season.

Roczen moved into third place on the opening lap and got into second place behind Martin Davalos on the fourth lap. After starting sixth, Tomac passed Roczen on the ninth lap and took over the lead on the 11th. Roczen then got past Davalos on the 14th lap to secure the points title.

"I am so happy right now," Roczen said. "This was a close race tonight and the championship was intense. I really hope that the fans enjoyed tonight's race. I was riding with a lot of weight (on my shoulders), but I am so excited right now."

Roczen also won the Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Shootout.

"This race was really important to me because this is my last 250SX race in Supercross because I am moving up (to 450SX) next year," Roczen said. "This is my first shootout win and it feels great."
