LARAMIE, Wyoming — A judge is telling prosecutors to focus on a lesser charge in the case of a home care provider suspected of injuring an 8-month-old boy.
The Laramie Boomerang reports (http://bit.ly/1L7xn8v) District Court Judge Jeffrey Donnell said the boy sustained a physical injury that does not meet the definition for aggravated child abuse and tossed that charge against 37-year-old Mishawnna Jennings.
Jennings was arrested Nov. 5 after a boy in her care was taken to the hospital and doctors saw evidence of trauma. She has acknowledged dropping the boy into a bassinet, which her lawyers say would not have caused the injuries and did not result in a skull fracture, as previously reported.
Experts testified that the boy could have been injured any time over the course of a week.
