BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Contractors have completed a segment of the Morganza-to-the-Gulf levee tying into the Houma Navigation Canal south of Dulac.

The Courier reports (http://bit.ly/1rnTOSZ ) Terrebonne Levee District Director Reggie Dupre addressed the state's Coastal Restoration and Protection Authority Board on Wednesday to update the parish's progress in the footprint of the Morganza project.

Dupre said work was recently completed on five miles of the levees between the floodgates on the Houma Navigation Canal and Bayou Grand Caillou (ky-YOU). The stretch is part of one that runs parallel alongside the Houma Navigation Canal and will eventually tie into levees to be built along Falgout Canal Road.

Dupre said the 110-foot floodgate to be installed on Bayou Little Caillou south of Chauvin is under construction.
