EASTPORT, New York — Police say a man has been shot dead in his Long Island home and another resident has been wounded. Investigators are looking for suspects.
Suffolk County police went to the Eastport home after around 3:30 a.m. Sunday after getting a 911 call that two masked men broke in, announced a robbery and shot two residents.
Forty-five-year-old Francisco Pirir was killed.
Another man who lives in the home was shot in the hand. He's been treated at a hospital and released.
Police aren't yet sure of any reason why robbers might have chosen that home, on East Moriches Boulevard.
There was no answer at a possible phone number to the home.
