GREENVILLE, Georgia — Authorities say a body found in a wooded area of west Georgia has been identified as a 31-year-old Newnan man who had been reported missing.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports (http://bit.ly/1L6abeu ) the Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the remains of Kenneth Michael Spice. His decomposing body had been found Monday in woods near Greenville, about 35 miles south of Spice's home in Newnan. Authorities also found Spice's pickup truck after searching the area by air.

A day after the body was discovered, a relative reported Spice as missing to the Coweta County Sheriff's Office. Authorities say the relative had not seen Spice since June 10.

Spice's cause of death was not released. Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith says the dead is being investigated as a homicide.
