Rest area on westbound I-40 near Kingman to close much of March for repairs, improvements

KINGMAN, Arizona — A rest area on westbound Interstate 40 in northwestern Arizona will be closed for much of March for upgrades that will include replacing plumbing fixtures, repaving and a lot of other work.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says the Haviland rest area will be closed starting March 9 for approximately three weeks. It's located between Kingman and the California line.

The planned work includes replacement of water and booster pumps, septic tanks and leach fields. Other repairs and upgrades will involve road surface paving, and electrical, mechanical and structural work.

In addition, there will be changes to make facilities accessible for disabled people.
