Man charged with DUI after fleeing from police in Wilmington, Delaware


WILMINGTON, Delaware — Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man after they say he drove away after an attempted traffic stop.

It happened about 12:05 a.m. Wednesday on Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington. Police say a trooper saw a drive commit a traffic violation and attempted to pull the vehicle over.

Authorities say the driver sped off, then turned into an apartment complex parking lot, where he allegedly threw an object out of the car. Officers say the driver struck several parked car and fled on foot before being arrested.

Troopers recovered a handgun, which they said was thrown from the car.

Twenty-two-year-old Jamil Biddle was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and numerous other offenses.
