Sunderland concedes 7 goals in opening 2 games after 3-1 defeat to Norwich in Premier League

SUNDERLAND, England — Sunderland lost its second straight Premier League game of the season on Saturday, beaten 3-1 by newly promoted Norwich at the Stadium of Light.

put the Canaries ahead in the 26th minute from close range and made it 2-0 with a shot to the bottom left corner 11 minutes later as Sunderland's defense again struggled. It has now conceded seven goals in two games.

added a third in the 57th before newcomer got a consolation goal for Sunderland with two minutes left.

The match featured the current oldest Premier League manager — Sunderland's at age 67 — versus the youngest — at 34.

The Black Cats lost their opener at Leicester 4-2 when they conceded three times inside a period of 14 minutes.

Norwich exploited its hosts' frailty at the back in ruthless fashion, if initially with a touch of good fortune when goalkeeper could only push 's shot against the shins of Martin and ultimately into the back of the net.

Whittaker added to Advocaat's misery in the 37th when he played a one-two with Norwich playmaker and fired past Pantilimon.

Redmond wrapped up the win in the second half when he exchanged passes with Hoolahan and slid a shot past the stranded Pantilimon.
