Police: Car strikes, kills Hudson Valley man near entrance to military base

NEWBURGH, New York — Police say a Hudson Valley man is dead after he was hit by a car near the entrance to a military base.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (http://bit.ly/1HTrY3U ) the man was struck Wednesday just before 10 p.m. Newburgh police say the man was walking in the westbound lane of Route 17K near Stewart Air National Guard Base when he was hit.

The Newburgh man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police didn't immediately identify the victim.

An autopsy will be conducted.
