BROOKHAVEN, Mississippi — Lincoln County authorities say a man was shot after he allegedly rushed deputies with a gun pointed at them.

Sheriff Steve Rushing tells The Clarion-Ledger (http://on.thec-l.com/1av13Rm ) two deputies were responding to a call of a disturbance around 6 a.m. Tuesday when a man ran from the home with a weapon pointed at them.

Rushing says one of the deputies shot at the man and he ran back into the house.

A short time later, Rushing say deputies entered the house and found the unidentified man had been shot in the leg. He was taken to a Jackson hospital for treatment.

Rushing says the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation will investigate the officer-involved shooting.
