It is the latest lengthy layoff for the England international, who was injured in Saturday's loss to Manchester United.

Arsenal says the 22-year-old Wilshere underwent surgery on Thursday.

Alongside a picture of himself following the operation, Wilshere wrote on Instagram: "You have to be strong and courageous and know that you can do anything you put your mind to."
