Officers responding to shots fired call in North Charleston find dead man

NORTH CHARLESTON, South Carolina — Authorities say a man has been shot to death in North Charleston.

Police spokesman Spencer Pryor told local media outlets that the victim was found on the ground between two homes around 7 p.m. Friday by officers responding to a call about shots being fired.

Paramedics declared the man dead at the scene. The Charleston County Coroner's Office identified him as 50-year-old Theodore Melvin.

Pryor says the investigation continues and no suspects have been identified.
