Charges dropped against former TV reporter after apology

BURLINGTON, Vermont — A Vermont prosecutor says criminal charges have been dropped against a former WCAX-TV news reporter accused of groping a woman at a Lyndon bar last year after he apologized to the victim.

Caledonia County State's Attorney Lisa Warren told the Burlington Free Press ( ) that she decided to dismiss the charges against Matt Henson after he apologized.

Warren says the complaining witness had said all along that she just wanted a sincere apology from Henson. She says the woman "was satisfied with his apology and wants to move on with her life."

Henson says he was "glad this year's long nightmare is over and I can finally move on with my life."

Henson pleaded not guilty to the charges and was later fire from his job.
