Orioles activate second baseman Jonathan Schoop, send Ryan Flaherty to Triple-A

CHICAGO — The Baltimore Orioles activated second baseman from the 60-day disabled list on Sunday.

Schoop hit .259 with three home runs and seven RBIs in nine games to begin the season before he went on the 15-day disabled list on April 18 for a sprained right knee.

Schoop was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on June 16. He hit .265 with two doubles, four home runs and seven RBIs in nine rehabilitation games between Double-A Bowie and Class A Frederick.

"He's done everything possible," Orioles manager said. "He's probably in the best shape of his life."

To make room for Schoop, the Orioles optioned second baseman to Triple-A Norfolk. He hit .248 with three home runs and 20 RBIs in 51 games.
