Driver, 47, father, 68, die Thursday night in Pointe Coupee crash

NEW ROADS, Louisiana — State police say a late night accident in Pointe Coupee Parish killed a driver and his father.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday on Louisiana Highway 415 near its intersection with Highway 414.

Troopers say 47-year-old Sidney R. Morel of Jarreau was driving a Ford pickup truck southbound when he lost control in a curve. The truck overturned several times. Morel and his father, 68-year-old Sidney J. Morel, of Jarreau, were killed.
