LaMike James released by Dolphins after fumbling kickoff return at Washington

DAVIE, Florida — LaMike James was released Monday by the Miami Dolphins one day after he fumbled a kickoff return.

Rookie returner agreed to terms with the Dolphins, said his agent, Brett Tessler, and will be a candidate to replace James. Mostert was undrafted out of Purdue and was in the Philadelphia Eagles' training camp.

The Dolphins activated tight end off their practice squad. He's expected to fill in for tight end , who suffered a concussion in Sunday's win at Washington.

Miami also re-signed center-guard , and waived center and running back .

James got into a fight with teammate during a team meeting last week, but his release wasn't due to anything that happened off the field, coach said. James barely survived cuts at the end of training camp and made the roster as a third-string running back and kick returner.
