BURLINGTON, Vermont — A Canadian man will spend five years in a U.S. prison after being convicted in Vermont on a charge of distributing child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say 58-year-old Roy Aubie of Québec, Canada, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Court Judge William Sessions. Aubie had pleaded guilty in February.

Prosecutors say that in 2007 a South Burlington, Vermont, police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl began an online relationship with Aubie in which Aubie directed what he thought was the girl to websites that contained images of child pornography.

Aubie was indicted in 2009 and extradited to the United States from Canada in 2013.

Aubie's attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
