Upstate New York man charged with murder in death of 82-year-old Southern Tier woman

BINGHAMTON, New York — A 29-year old upstate New York man has been accused of killing an 82-year-old woman.

Kenneth Weber was arraigned Tuesday in Broome County Court on a second-degree murder charge.

Police say Saundra Stabler was last seen at her home on Jan. 25. She was found dead two weeks later.

Weber pleaded not guilty and was sent without bail to the county jail.

Weber is due back in court Thursday for a conference with the judge and prosecutor.

Public defender Michael Baker said his client maintains his innocence, but it's too early to provide any substantial comment, given that it's a sealed indictment.
