LAS VEGAS — Airport officials in Las Vegas say 3.9 million people flew in and out of the destination in June, a 5.8 percent increase compared to a year ago.

McCarran International Airport released statistics Friday that show traffic is up 3.8 percent in the first half of the year.

Domestic and international flights were both up during the month compared to a year ago.

Of the 3.9 million visitors about 291,000 were traveling internationally.

Airport spokesman Chris Jones says the monthly year-over-year increases are tied to the airlines adding more seats with larger planes or additional flights to Las Vegas.

Jones says that while traffic is the best it's been since the recession, it's not expected to beat the record 48 million passengers that traveled to and from Las Vegas in 2007.
