Jeffersonville officials dropping permanent boat docks from new Ohio River marina plans

JEFFERSONVILLE, Indiana — Leaders of a southern Indiana city are dropping plans for permanent boat docking spots at a new Ohio River marina.

The revised plan for the Jeffersonville marina calls for 15 spots for temporary boat docking and eliminates a planned 22 permanent slips. The changes come after construction bids on the previous plan came in higher than expected.

Mayor Mike Moore tells the News and Tribune ( ) the spots for temporary docking are the economic engine of the project since the new marina is meant to entice boaters to visit the city.

Moore says he also wants a fishing pier included in the plans because it will lead to more public use of the area.

The City Council could have new preliminary sketches and estimates to review next month.
