WVU faces $13M cut in state funding, creates website seeking cost saving, revenue ideas

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — West Virginia University is losing more than $13 million in state funding for the next academic year.

President Jim Clements says the university's state funding was reduced by 8.9 percent, the full amount expected.

He says WVU officials are looking at areas to determine which can be strategically affected by the cut.

The university also has created a website seeking revenue-generating or cost saving ideas.

The Dominion Post (http://bit.ly/r8Ei4o ) reports that Clements' comments came Monday during a Faculty Senate Executive Committee meeting.
