Minot police officer not seriously injured when assaulted by drug suspect; charges are pending


MINOT, North Dakota — Formal charges are pending against a man who allegedly assaulted a Minot police officer.

Authorities say the officer was investigating possible illegal drug activity and was assaulted by a suspect in a store parking lot just after midnight Saturday. The 26-year-old male suspect allegedly hit the officer in the face and body several times.

The officer did not require medical treatment.

The suspect was arrested on numerous assault- and drug-related charges.
