Teen driver faces more charges in crash that injured 2 pedestrians in Hampton Beach


HAMPTON, New Hampshire — A Portsmouth teenager charged with drunken driving in crash that injured two pedestrians in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, is facing more charges.

Seventeen-year-old Remi Gross-Santos faces two counts of second-degree assault and one count each of possession of drugs in a motor vehicle and transportation of alcoholic beverages by a minor.

Police said Gross-Santos swerved into 69-year-old Karen Weinhold of Hampton and 60-year-old Lisa Beaudry of Hampton on the morning of June 12.

Both women were airlifted to Boston-area hospitals after the crash.

Staff at Massachusetts General Hospital says Beaudry was recently released.

The Portsmouth Herald reports ( ) that Weinhold was still receiving treatment at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital on Wednesday.

Gross-Santos told police that he swerved because he fell asleep at the wheel.
