Cops ID NY accident victim as Wash. state resident; woman hit by vehicle on upstate street

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York — Authorities have released the name and hometown of the woman who died after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing a street in eastern New York.

Police in Saratoga Springs say Monday that 55-year-old Jamie Joe McBride was from Mukilteo (muh-kihl-TEE'-oh), Washington, near Seattle. Her name had been withheld because investigators said they were having difficulty contacting her family.

Police say McBride died Friday night at Albany Medical Center after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing a street in Saratoga earlier that afternoon.

Officials say she was in a crosswalk and had the right of way.

Authorities have charged 28-year-old Paul Nicholson II of Saratoga Springs with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. He's being held in jail on $100,000 bail. It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer.
