STAUNTON, Virginia — A $50,000 reward is continuing to be offered for information about a Staunton man who disappeared in 2012.
The reward was set to expire on July 1. Friends of Robert "Bobby" Fitzgerald tell The News Leader (http://bit.ly/1M8ekzg ) that the reward has been extended until 2017.
Longtime friend Joe McCue says there hasn't been any response to the reward, despite the hefty amount.
Fitzgerald was 60 when he disappeared on Shenandoah Mountain in November 2012. Police believe he lost his cell phone while hiking on the mountain and went looking for it the next day. He was reported missing days later when he failed to show up for his job in Stuarts Draft.
Deputy Felicia Glick with the Augusta County Sheriff's Office says there's no indication of foul play.
