Big rig driver seriously hurt after crashing truck into stalled semi on Orange County freeway

BUENA PARK, California — Authorities say a big rig driver was seriously injured after crashing his truck into a stalled semi-trailer on an Orange County freeway.

The California Highway Patrol says two lanes of the 91 Freeway in Buena Park remain closed Thursday, backing up early morning commuter traffic.

The crash was reported shortly before midnight. The CHP says the big rig smashed into a FedEx truck stalled in the middle lanes.

It took paramedics nearly 10 minutes to extract the 58-year-old victim from his cab. The FedEx driver escaped serious injury.

The CHP says two other vehicles were caught in the wreckage. One of the occupants was hospitalized with minor injuries.
