BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — New Boca Juniors coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena won his first match in charge with a 3-1 victory over Velez Sarsfield on Sunday.

Arruabarrena on Friday replaced Carlos Bianchi, who was fired the day before after the famous Argentina club won only three points in its first four matches. Bianchi failed to win a single title in 19 months at the helm.

Boca won with three second-half goals from Daniel Diaz, Cesar Meli and Andrez Chavez.

Independiente defeated Racing 2-1 in an earlier match Sunday.

On Saturday, Gimnasia defeated Godoy Cruz 2-0, Defensa y Justicia fell 3-1 to Rosario Central, and Newell's defeated Estudiantes 1-0.

Lanus playes Olimpo on Monday while Arsenal takes on Banfield and Tigre faces Quilmes.
