Irad Ortiz Jr. wins 4, takes Big A's Key Cents Stakes with Frosty Margarita

NEW YORK — Irad Ortiz Jr. had four wins at Aqueduct on Sunday including $100,000 Key Cents Stakes aboard Frosty Margarita.

It was a memorable afternoon for Ortiz, a rising 23-year-old star from Puerto Rico. The four victories included his 1,000th in the U.S. since arriving in 2011.

Frosty Margarita was an easy winner of the Key Cents for 2-year-old fillies bred in New York. She set the pace and was never threatened in a three-length score over Melodic as the 3-2 favorite.

The first stakes victory by Frosty Margarita improved her record to 2-3-0 in five starts for trainer Rudy Rodriguez.

The time was 1:11.85 for the six furlongs.

Frosty Margarita paid $5.10, $2.90 and $2.10.

Melodic, the 5/2 second choice, returned $3.70 and $2.90 while Surprise Cameo paid $5.80 to show.
