WAILUKU, Hawaii — Maui emergency services personnel used a basket to rescue a man who fell from a scenic lookout.
The Maui News (http://bit.ly/183HGO0) reports the 63-year-old man fell Saturday night off the Pali Lookout in west Maui.
Firefighters reached the scene just before 7 p.m.
The found the man a quarter mile south of the lookout and 25 feet below it.
Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga says the man suffered sore ribs and back pain.
Battalion Chief Val Martin says the topography was steep and it took 12 people to carry the injured man out over rocky terrain.
Medics took the man to Maui Memorial Medical Center.
