WASHINGTON — President and Jordan's King have met informally at Andrews Air Force Base.

The two leaders crossed paths at the base, which houses Air Force One, as Abdullah was preparing to leave the U.S. at the end of a trip and Obama was departing for Nebraska.

White House spokesman says Obama entered the small terminal on the base to greet the visiting king. He says it wasn't a formal meeting but a courtesy visit. The encounter lasted just a few minutes before Obama boarded his plane.

Abdullah met with Vice President on Tuesday.

Jordan is a key partner for the U.S. in its campaign to defeat the Islamic State group and its effort to resolve the civil war in neighboring Syria.
