Utah unemployment rate remains at 3.4 percent for 3rd month in a row

SALT LAKE CITY — For the third month in a row, Utah's unemployment rate is 3.4 percent.

Utah's Department of Workforce Services on Friday released the March jobless rate, the most recent number available.

Workforce Services says about 49,000 Utah residents were unemployed last month and actively looking for work.

The national unemployment rate was 5.5 percent, unchanged from a month earlier.

State officials say the transportation, trade and utilities industry saw more new jobs than other private sector industries last month.

It added 13,800 more jobs from March 2014.
