Bicyclist killed by car in late-night accident on central New York road

LEE, New York — Police say a man has died after being struck by a car while he rode his bicycle along a dark central New York road.

The accident happened shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday in the Oneida County town of Lee. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says the man was thrown from the bike when it was hit by a 2001 GMC driven by 33-year-old Laurie Ceravolo of Ava. The man, whose name hasn't been released yet, was flown to SUNY Upstate Medical Center, where he died.

The sheriff's office says the bicyclist was heading east and the driver was heading west on Stokes-Westernville Road.

The accident is under investigation.
