Authorities: Police officer suffers head injury when car cuts off cruiser in north New Jersey

LITTLE FERRY, New Jersey — Authorities say a northern New Jersey police officer was injured when another vehicle cut off his patrol cruiser, sending it off the road.

Bergen County Police tell The Record (http://bit.ly/1wlnYJc) that officer Gabriel Castellanos' suffered a head injury in the crash, which occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday on Route 46 westbound in Little Ferry. He was treated at a hospital and released later Sunday night, but further details on his condition were not disclosed.

It's not clear if the car, a black Audi A4, struck Castellanos' cruiser. The car continued on while the cruiser eventually got lodged between a utility pole and a building.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
