Authorities seize 40 dogs and 5 cats from Parkersburg home

PARKERSBURG, West Virginia — Authorities have seized 40 dogs and five cats from a Parkersburg residence.

Police Chief Joe Martin says his department helped the Humane Society of Parkersburg remove 26 dogs and four cats from a garage on the property on Wednesday. The other animals were removed from the home.

Martin tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1D1qVSc ) that the animals taken from the garage were reported to have skin disorders, eye and ear infections and other medical conditions.

He says charges are pending against the homeowner.
