GREENEVILLE, Tennessee — A Greene County Criminal Court jury has found a father not guilty in the killing of his eight-month-old daughter.
The Greeneville Sun reports (http://bit.ly/1Hz5UzZ ) the jury acquitted 25-year-old Stephen A. Jennings Jr. of first-degree murder Thursday in connection with the September 2012 death of his daughter, Abby Leeann Jennings.
The jury, which deliberated about seven hours before announcing its verdict, also found Jennings not guilty of lesser included charges relating to the case.
Jennings declined comment as he left the courtroom with his family.
The three-day trial included testimony from Jennings' estranged wife, 25-year-old Pooja Jennings, who was initially charged with first-degree murder along with her husband in May 2013. She's currently serving a 25-year prison sentence after entering a guilty plea last December to a charge of aggravated child neglect.
