INSTITUTE, West Virginia — "America's Got Talent" winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. is scheduled to speak at West Virginia State University.

The Logan County native will speak Tuesday night to communications students about his life and music career. It's part of the school's Creators Program.

Murphy won NBC's "America's Got Talent" show and a $1 million prize in 2011.

His voice and musical style also won him a record deal and a headlining show in Las Vegas.

WVSU communications professor Danny Boyd calls Landau "one of the greatest American dream" stories.

The event is limited to WVSU students.
