Police seek suspect in armed bank robbery in Waitsfield Tuesday


WAITSFIELD, Vermont — Vermont State Police are investigating an armed bank robbery in Waitsfield.

Police say an individual wearing a black coat, hood and sunglasses and carrying a handgun robbed the Northfield Savings Bank shortly before noon on Tuesday.

Authorities say the person demanded money from a teller and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt and there was customer in the bank at the time it was robbed.

Police say it's unclear if the individual is a male or female.

Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity or vehicles or a person matching the suspect's description in the area during the time of the robbery is asked to contact the Vermont State Police barracks in Middlesex at 802-229-9191.
