Line of severe thunderstorms move across southeast Louisiana, damage to trees, power lines


NEW ORLEANS — A line of severe thunderstorm moved across portions of southeast Louisiana bring with it strong winds and heavy rain.

Entergy reports over 16,000 customers are without power in the New Orleans metro area. Southwestern Electric Power Company reports about 14,000 customers have no electricity in the Shreveport area.

The National Weather Service says strong winds downed multiple trees onto a mobile home in the Greenwell Springs area early Tuesday morning. No one in the mobile home was injured.

In Kenner, city officials report roof damage to several buildings.

As the line entered the state Monday night, tree and power line damage was reported in northwest Louisiana.

The weather service says high winds caused tree and power line damage in Ouachita, Morehouse and Richland parishes.
