Eastern Ohio man sentenced to life in prison after guilty plea in rape of child

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — A judge has sentenced a 40-year-old eastern Ohio man to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to raping a child.

WTOV-TV (http://bit.ly/126Rv5o ) reports that Jared Tittle was sentenced Monday in Belmont County, ending a case that began more than 2 ½ years ago. He pleaded guilty last month to raping a child younger than 13, which authorities said occurred in September 2010.

A prosecutor said the investigation began when the Bellaire man used a West Virginia public library computer to show pictures of him with a child over the Internet and to discuss those acts with others.

The prosecutor said a woman still faces a charge of permitting child abuse in the case.
