Woman arrested on charges she intentionally burned child she was babysitting

DANBURY, Connecticut — A 31-year-old Danbury woman is accused of intentionally burning a child she was babysitting.

Lidia Quilligana faces arraignment Monday in Superior Court in Danbury on charges including first-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor.

She was arrested Friday evening when police went to a residence to investigate the 3-year-old girl's injuries including bruising and second-degree burns on her hands and leg.

The girl's mother told police the babysitter initially told her the girl burned herself by touching a hot stove, but when the mother checked a recently installed hidden camera she saw that Quilligana had deliberately hurt her daughter.

Quilligana is being held in police custody. The Associated Press could not immediately determine whether she has an attorney.
