Spokane County sheriff investigating sexual assault case involving Spokane police officers

SPOKANE, Washington — Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich is investigating whether Spokane police officers tampered with evidence and assisted a fellow officer in a sexual assault investigation.

Meanwhile, the Spokane Police Department officer who hosted the party where the alleged assault occurred has been placed on paid leave.

Police Sgt. Gordon Ennis is accused of sexually assaulting a female police officer at a party hosted by Officer Doug Strosahl on Saturday. Strosahl has been placed on paid leave.

The woman told investigators she passed out after consuming several drinks and when she awoke in a guest bedroom, Ennis was sexually assaulting her.

The Spokesman-Review ( ) reports that the sheriff's office is investigating the case. Knezovich says sheriff's detectives are concerned that other officers may have improperly assisted Ennis.
